The internet is a great resource on dreaming. Students can find out what dreaming is and what some of the symbolisms of dreams are. Paradigms in psychology have differing thoughts of what dreams are and mean. Go to any search engine and begin searching resources about dreams. These sources must be reliable and valid psychology websites. The choice is of paradigm you use in your final report is yours; just make sure you site your source. The supplemental readings may be helpful.
Keep a dream journal. Put a notebook and writing utensil next to your bed at night. You can staple several sheets of loose-leaf paper together; around 10 should suffice or just use a spiral notebook. This is going to be your dream journal. After you wake from a dream, write it down. Do not worry about making sense of it, just journal as much detail you can remember. This Journal is for your use only and is as private as you want it to be. Remember, your privacy is my number one concern and all dreams and interpretations in this paper will be held in confidence.
After you get three dreams, begin your analysis… do research via the web…write a critical evaluation of your dreams.
The assignment must be in essay/paragraph form. Do not just write sentences; rather have a thesis in mind that connects all the individual ideas and symbolisms of your dreams. Consider comparing settings, plots, characters, emotions, and colors. Remember, your privacy is my number one concern and all dreams and interpretations in this paper will be held in confidence. The paper must be typed, double spaced, Times New Roman, 12 font, with one inch margins, and at least four pages in length. You should check for spelling and grammatical errors. The sentences should coherently flow and be written in competent prose.
This project is more than an assignment. It is an opportunity to gain knowledge of yourself through the understanding of your dreams. Only you can determine what you have learned about yourself by writing this. Please submit this through the Drop box in Canvas.
